| maybe im wrong maybe im right, but it makes to me at least. I take it you already grenaded a tranny since you were looking for one the other day. Since the swap still requires a z32 trans we are still not immune from the weak tranny problem. By weak tranny I am mainly referring to the synchros which eventually where down and start grinding, this is basically how all the 5spds fail, no? This effect is only increased with the RB26 engine since we can easily rev to 8~9K rpm with no mods and 10K+ once built. The synchros only have to work harder. Know, in your case you have an OS giken triple plate clutch which I believe is quite heavy which only puts more stress on the trans. while shifting. Since your car is mostly drag and little street use (or atleast you don't care about comfort, (much) Maybe if you run something like an ATS carbon clutch which is very light weight could extend the life of the tranny? since the synchros will be slowing down alot less weight. Although the best set-up would (from a weight perspective) would be a single 3 puck carbon that they also make, but you're making a bit too much power for that ;) In the end, I think less weight in the clutch could greatly help the Z tranny problem, but yes a th400 will save you alot of headaches, but I would personally never do it in my personal car, I'd rather look into adapting something else like a sequential or supra 6spd before doing an auto in my personal street car.
